  16. <p>     The former Soviet Union has approached the Pentagon for
  17. an unusual form of assistance. Its armed forces need chaplains.
  18. But with seminaries in Mother Russia shut down for the past 70
  19. years, nobody is sure how to proceed. The Pentagon plans to help
  20. its new brethren-in-arms establish a chaplains corps. Looks like
  21. pretty soon the Vatican will have officers in the KGB's
  22. homeland.
